Dubai is a hub of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, the Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Mall, Museum of the Future. But beyond its vibrant culture and heritage, rich culture, the country has strict rules and laws which is abided by the residents of Dubai and first-time visitors.
Here are the important Dubai travel rules to know before visiting Dubai:
1. Modest Dressing In Public: Dubai follows cultural and orthodox dress norms, mostly in public areas like shopping malls, religious sites, and markets. Hence, visitors are likely to wear clothes modestly, covering their knees and shoulders.
2. Public Displays of Affection: Visitors must avoid public displays of affection that may attract unwanted attention or even penalties. For married couples, holding hands might be tolerable, but acts like hugging in public are considered inappropriate, which may result in fines.
3. No Drinking Alcohol in Public: Though alcohol is available in Dubai but consuming it in public places is a legal offense that may lead to a fine or even arrest. Drinking in private clubs, hotel bars, and restaurants is fine.

4. Drug Law: Dubai follows a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, and even possessing them in small quantities that include traces or residues found in clothing or bags can result in severe punishment, including imprisonment.
5. Photography Rules: Taking photos of people, especially women, without their consent is considered illegal in Dubai. Even photography of any military sites, airports, and government buildings is strictly prohibited.
6. Criticizing Government: Speaking any offensive things or criticizing the leaders, culture, and religion of the UAE publicly or even on social media is a serious offense. The UAE authorities closely monitor online content, and violations can lead to fines and deportation, or even imprisonment.
