The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP)


The “Quebec Regular Skilled Worker” program, also known as the “Quebec Experience Program” (PEQ), or the “Quebec Skilled Worker Program” (QSWP) allows skilled workers and international graduates with a Quebec diploma and at-least one year of skilled work in the last two years, to immigrate to any city or region within the province of Quebec. Candidates would also be required to have an advanced intermediate knowledge of spoken French. The candidates most likely to be selected would be those who demonstrate the ability to economically establish themselves in the province of Quebec.

This program additionally allows your family members to migrate with you as permanent residents. If successful, you would be issued a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) from the Quebec Government.

Eligibility requirements

*As of August 02, 2018, candidates who are interested in applying must submit an application through Quebec’s Expression of Interest System, using the new online Arrima portal.  

An expression of interest (EOI) profile would be assessed based on factors such as education, language proficiency, work experience, area of training, and other. Candidates that meet the eligibility criteria and best fits the economic needs of Quebec will invited to apply.

Steps to apply

  1. Submit an expression of interest
  2. Receive invitation to apply. If invited to apply, candidates would need to submit their application using the Mon projet Québec  portal, where they can submit their application for a CSQ, together with the application payment.
  3. Get issued a Quebec selection Certificate (CSQ). In order to qualify for a CSQ, you must score enough points under the Quebec Immigration selection factors. A single (unmarried) applicant must score at least 50 points based on this system, while an applicant with a spouse or common-law partner must score at least 59 points.
  4. Apply for permanent residence through Canadian government
  5. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will conduct a medical and criminal background check as part of its approval process.
  6. Receive permanent residence

Australian Annual Migration Cap lowered
In an effort to curb overpopulation in major Australian cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, the government has announced that it plans to reduce the annual permanent migration cap from 190,000 down to 160,000 from July 2019. This is nearly a 15% decrease from the previous year. Of the 160,000 applications accepted, 70% will be in the skilled migration stream (110,000 places), while 30% will be from family migration (47,000 places). Employer sponsored visa will offer 39,000 places, and State and Territory Nominated categories will offer 38,968 places in 2019/20. The government plans to keep this cap in place for at least the next 3 years.
