Which Canadian Provinces Give Easy Permanent Resident Options?

Which Canadian Provinces Give Easy image

Tues, 26th Sept 2023

In the context of immigrating to Canada, there exists a widespread belief that certain provinces are more welcoming and accommodating than others. However, this belief isn't entirely accurate.

The truth is that any province in Canada can become an accessible destination for immigration, provided you satisfy all the specific eligibility criteria outlined in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) you intend to apply for. But there's a twist to this!

The challenge lies in finding the right PNP stream that suits your unique circumstances. Canada currently boasts a diverse landscape of over 80 distinct streams within its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Each province in Canada has devised its own PNP streams, carefully tailored to address their specific regional needs. Therefore, determining the "perfect fit" depends on your individual situation, as well as the skills and experience you possess, which can contribute to the labor market of your chosen province.

Obtaining a provincial nomination through a PNP stream linked to the Express Entry System comes with a significant advantage. This advantage translates into an automatic addition of 600 points to your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. If you can secure these additional points, it virtually guarantees that you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency.

Provinces in Canada For PR

When it comes to choosing the best province in Canada for Permanent Residency (PR), you have a multitude of options available to you, depending on your specific circumstances. Let's explore some of the most popular ones:

If You Don't Have a Job Offer:

Your first option is the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Specifically, the Ontario Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream is a favored choice among immigrants who lack a job offer. This stream offers five sub-streams linked to the Express Entry system and regularly issues ITAs for Canada PR through frequent Express Entry draws. While a job offer is not obligatory, you do need to have an active Express Entry profile and relevant work experience to be considered for provincial nomination.

Your second option is the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), which includes two streams that do not require a job offer. These are the Saskatchewan Express Entry-linked stream (requiring an Express Entry profile) and the Saskatchewan Occupation In-demand stream (suitable for candidates with at least one year of experience in an occupation in demand in Saskatchewan).

Lastly, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is an extensive and innovative PNP. NSNP frequently scans the Express Entry pool to identify candidates with work experience in specific in-demand occupations in Canada. There are three enhanced streams managed by NSNP: Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry, Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities, and Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians.

If You're a Tech Worker:

Two popular PNP pathways for tech workers are operated by the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia.

Ontario conducts targeted tech draws periodically within its Express Entry-linked HCP stream. These draws focus on candidates with work experience in specific tech occupations, such as Computer Engineering and Web Designers. Importantly, no job offer is required.

In contrast, British Columbia's Tech Pilot program frequently selects candidates for provincial nomination, nearly on a weekly basis. However, an essential requirement for this program is having a job offer in one of the 29 designated tech occupations.

If You Have Experience in the Province:

Many PNPs across Canada have streams that favor candidates with specific experience in a province or territory. For instance, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) gives preference to candidates with academic and employment work experience in Manitoba. MPNP's International Education Stream also offers three sub-streams for candidates who have studied or graduated from Manitoba's post-secondary institutions.

If You Speak French:

Beyond the French-speaking province of Quebec, other provinces in Canada actively seek out Francophone or bilingual applicants. Ontario's Express Entry-linked French-speaking skilled Worker stream allows the province to select candidates from the Express Entry pool who are French-speaking skilled workers with strong English language skills, among other criteria.

Why are PNPs one of the best ways to get Canada PR?

It's important to understand that both the Express Entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are poised to play increasingly significant roles in Canada's immigration plans for the years 2023-2025.

Canada aims to welcome 305,820 new immigrants through the Express Entry system and 332,500 new immigrants through the Provincial Nominee Program by 2025, contributing to a total of 848,595 immigrants in the economic class. With these robust immigration plans, Canada is making a substantial commitment to immigration, making this a particularly favorable time to consider moving to the country.
